Whatever your diving passion – photography, deep, wreck, conservation – there’s likely to be a PADI Speciality for it! Become an Instructor in your favourite subjects and have more fun diving, passing on your enthusiasm and knowledge to other divers, challenging them to become Master Scuba Divers.
PADI offers 25 standard Specialities, but if your interests are not represented in the list, why not talk to Scubaducks about writing your own course?
There are three routes to becoming a Speciality Instructor:
With a Course Director. You will need to have 10 experience dives in each particular speciality, but there is no minimum number of divers you must certify
Apply directly to PADI for an instructor rating. For this route, you will need to have 20 experience dives in each speciality and you must have certified at least 25 divers
Write your own course
Speciality Instructor training courses are highly recommended because they provide valuable hands-on training, technique demonstrations, course marketing information, current PADI Standards information and, when applicable, instructor-level open water training.
Once you have five speciality instructor ratings you can apply to become a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT).
